Responsive website redesign, front end development, company rebranding and associated print materials designed for Kättare Internet Services—a versatile Corvallis, Oregon web host that's been doing business since 1997.
Kattare's website was outdated and taking a hit on SEO and trustability—a deterrent for acquiring new clients. I corrected these issues by writing semantic HTML and mobile-first CSS3 for fluid and responsive design, livened up the color scheme to create a more dynamic and inviting feeling, carefully selected typography, wrote some new copy, and spaced and presented all content in a cleaner manner. These actions have drastically improved Kättare's Google rankings and I've been directly involved in the conversion of several new happy clients.
*Due to the way the site was set up in the 90s, the new HTML and CSS had to be bolted on. Whereas unacceptable from a UX point of view, some front-facing pages remain to be styled correctly due to internal issues outside my control.
I designed and implemented minimalist custom icons for each of the service types Kättare offers. These provide continuity to the brand while users click through different service options.
For the sign up page I designed a custom jQuery/Javascript single page solution where every section must be validated before the user can move on. A completion bar shows the user how much of the form remains. Useful, friendly feedback is provided on almost every field, reducing frustrations and increasing the chances that he or she will complete the form and thereby purchase a service.
When I first came on to work for Kattare, we started a Business Package service which promised to alleviate website concerns for local business owners at a competitive price. I designed these brochures to provide those potential clients with information about this product, and to tell our story. We now have several happy Business Package clients.
Responsive website for the Corvallis Fall Festival, built on Mezzanine, a Django-based Content Management System. I briefed the director of the organization to assess their needs, made CSS edits to their theme for brand consistency, HTML edits to Django templates, and provided coaching and documentation on using the CMS. I continue to be their first point of contact when it comes to support for their site.
Gloves By Bruno was outdated and hacked when it came to us. It needed to be rebuilt on a new platform. I heavily modified a purchased theme to re-create the good parts of their old design, and added new typography and subtle design details to make it better. In addition, I wrote and implemented a custom client-side script that communicates with the server to calculate shipping values, giving users valuable feedback. Visit Site
A casual restaurant theme that I built for use with a static Content Management System called Lektor. I wrote custom models that allow end users to modularly create and edit menu pages with alluring photos, prices, and descriptions of the dishes.
A visually minimalist and responsive eCommerce website theme - "Woodcraft", built for Kättare on top of the Mezzanine CMS and Bootstrap. In use by the surf shop “Pura Vida” and other local businesses.

Thanks for visiting my portfolio and checking out my work! I created this site in the SPA style with the help of Fullpage.js. SVG animations on the loading screen are handled by Snap.svg and I used jQuery for DOM manipulation. I wrote CSS with Less and compiled with Grunt. Transition animations and everything else were custom–made by yours truly. No databases or content management systems were harmed in the making of this website.
